How to add * * into a user's parameter prompt 1

I'm trying to figure a way to allow a user to enter text into a parameter prompt {?Task Discription}without having to type in * before and after the text string. I'm trying to allow any text before the user's text string and any text after the user's text string, without making the user have to type in the *'s
Using CR 8.5 w/SQL
Appreciate any direction.
 
If you have your selection criteria set to "= {? Task Description}" change the "=" to "LIKE" and that should do it.
 
Hi,
Create a formula that takes the input text and concatenates the *s on each end, then use that in the selection formula.
Like this:
Formula named, for instance, @Fixparam would be:

"*" + {?Task Discription} + "*"

[profile]
 
Thanks, I thought to concatenate the *s on each end but did not know what to do with it beyond that.
Seems to work.
