HELLO,
I am fresher in the networking field. Please guide me for the following query.
We have Win 2000 server with active Directory & 10 workstations which are connected to the server thr'o the domain name.We have made all the user to login thr'o the domain to their respective pcs.
(Intially we didn't had any servers,so all the users were logging in as administrator.)
Now users are complaining that they are not able to open some of their applications/programs if they login thr'o the domain.
So please tell me how the users can work in their system as a normal user with out any restrictions by logging thr'o the domain only.

Windows 2000 loves to have separate profiles for the local login and the domain login. There is a way to edit the registry so the users can continue to use their local profile while logged onto the domain. Here's the article that explains how to do this:

I just did this on all our w2k computers. The difference from the article is that you will change to the local profile, not the domain profile. That means in the registry, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE....PROFILELIST, you will change the profile of the domain user to the local user profile. The article explains it better.
