How robust is a C-LAN board? I have my ASA administration and my BCMSVU running across a single C-LAN board. I would like to load my Microcall application up on the same computer as my BCMSVU is running on and use the same C-LAN board to catch my CDR data via IP.

Does anyone see any issues with doing this? Seems like the traffic would not be that much.

Thanks.

You should be fine. You can add up to 400 IP phones on 1 clan.

Using SAT, and bcmsvu, and call accounting should be no problem.

Thanks. I didn't think this should be a problem but I have been led to believe you need a CLAN board for each application eg. Intuity, IP, Management etc. I will admit this was from sales people. :)

RazorbackHog,

the "one c-lan per application" idea that avaya sales told you has its merit. as any other board, c-lan can go out of service, either by accident or you may have to do it manually for some purpose. and it's much better to lose one service rather than lose 'em all. besides, there are security considerations one should keep in mind. redundancy, too.
in short, you should judge yourself, how valuable a service is to put it on the separate c-lan board. there are no technical restrictions (except some rare cases) but there may be other considerations.

Thanks dwalin,

That does make some sense. If I have 3 CLANs, one dedicated for Intuity, one for IP phones and 1 for management etc, is it possible in the case of one board dying that I could manage temporarily with 1 board until a replacement was available??

Thanks.

RazorbackHog,

yes, of course it is possible. it would take some reconfiguring but still it's better to spend ten minutes and have full service than to spend two days waiting for replacement board.
