Or rather how much should I charge for my doggy.

I have written a fault logging application using VB6 and Access 2000. It is a multi-user application. Each user can be assigned a security level which either allows or restricts access to various parts of the application.

Once logged on the user can perform add/edit/delete actions to various aspects of the data. The user can enter Companies onto the system. Contact and Inventory details can be stored for the companies. This can either be as text which is stored in Access or in the form of documents or graphics which can be opened directly using my application.

Fault data can then be entered for a company. Each fault can be assigned to a user for action. The system keeps track of how long a call has been opened for and records all the time spent on a call.

The system also has data selection features so e.g. a user could choose to view only Faults for a particular user or company etc or only closed faults.

I have also created summary and detail reports for most of the data stored in the database. The reports are outputted using the Snapshot viewer.

The program has good error handling and also caters for record locking.

What I would really like to know is how much should I charge for such an application? A company is showing initial interest in my program but I have no idea what figure I should ask for.

Thanks to all that have read this far and I hope you can help me and finally apologies if this is in the wrong forum.

I suppose I should also add that I'm in the UK.

What are all the other petshop owners charging for similar puppies?

That would be one guide, but it does rather depend on other factors which you might like to decide first
Some questions to ask yourself might be
How much do I need to make?
Am I going to charge for the App or per seat
What about support? contract or free
What can your target customers afford? (there is no point trying to sell s/w at £1800 to a customer who realistcally can affors £100...) and what is the s/w worth to the customer?

Even, is this your main source of income?

I guess, more information is needed! My random thoughts anyway...

Take Care
