I was reading this article about how a RAMDisk would dramatically improve system performance if one uses memory intensive programs like Photoshop. I know that the data stored in the RAM will disappear after the power is turned off so I don't mind putting losable data like internet cache etc. there. Currently I have 504MB of DDR RAM and was wondering if I should bother with creating a RAMDisk.

Here is the article

Thanks.

The problem with doing so, is that this leaves less memory available for Windows cache.

You should take a look at how much disk cache windows is currently using, and then up that by how much space you want to use for the RAMDisk..

To effectively speed your system up by using a RAMDisk, you need much more than 504MB.
