I backed up a SQL 2000 database that I need to restore as a copy on another SQL 2000 server. It is about 8GB in size. How long should it take? I've been watching it for over 5 minutes and there is nothing showing in the progress bar.

Gladys,

Be patient. How long did it take to backup as this can sometimes be used to estimate time of restore?

Thanks. The backup was pretty fast, probably no more than 10 minutes. Then I copied the backup file to the Backup folder on the other server and that took almost an hour. I am restoring from the copied backup file, so I thought it would be pretty quick too. The Task Manager indicates that the Enterprise Manager is running, but the CPU usage is only at 1 or 2%, so I am a little suspicious.
I have a project I am ready to test and it's just so hard to wait when I am so close to being done!!!!!!
