Anyone know how to reinstall the RAS Async Adapter (hidden Network Adapter) in Windows 2000 Pro? I believe I have corrupted this component after loosing my harddisk, installing a new one, installing Win2kPro from CD, and then restoring a complete backup previously done with Backup (ntbackup.exe). B-(
I get errors when using certain dial software packages (error 797) which Microsoft documents (Q285049) on their support site to reinstall the RAS Async Adapter's device drivers. I can't do this since it does NOT show up in the Device Manager (even when displaying hidden devices).
I've tried some registry hacking (comparing the ras entries with another laptop with the same config as mine) but to no avail. I WAS able to fix some duplicate WAN Miniport devices however which also ocurred after the restore. Seems the WAN and RAS stuff are all part of the netrasa.inf in the winnt/inf directory. I looked at this file to try and get some clues but it also didn't help.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Chuck
