How do you open an .sql file with FileMaker Pro 7 ??

I tried to open an .sql file in FileMaker Pro but when it opened up the format looked strange and the data was not imported properly. There must be another step something with the ODBC but I have no clue what ODBC is. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You must install and configure drivers for the ODBC data source you're accessing. For example, to import data from an SQL database using ODBC, you must install and configure an SQL ODBC client driver.

Maybe the drivers are already on your computer.

To see the drivers that are already available on your computer:
Windows: In the Windows Control Panel, choose Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC), then click the Drivers tab.

In Windows XP, Administrative Tools appear in the Performance and Maintenance category.

Mac OS: Launch the iODBC driver manager.
OpenLink ODBC Administrator 3.52.1 is available from OpenLink Software, and Apple ODBC Administrator 1.0.1 is available with Mac OS 10.3.

I work with Oracle a bit and a .sql file for Oracle--and I assume other SQL compliant databases as well--is not really a data file. It is more of a file of SQL commands.

FileMaker, at its core is not a SQL compliant database. Any file that it opens will likely be interpreted as a data file and it will try to place the content into data tables rather than the scripting section which is more like SQL than anything else in FileMaker but still very different.

If you open the .sql file with Notepad.exe what do you see?
