Hello,

I have used sub rpts before and know how difficult it can be...especially the parameters! I have 3 existing rpts and a client wants to see them all in one rpt. How do you go about this? I am using CR 6.0 with an Access DB which is local to each machine (datafile ... no SQL/ODBC).

Thx in advance!

Jamie

Rather than jump into using subReports...let me ask this

1. Does your client want to see all reports at once or does he just want to consolidate his reports as much as possible?

2. Do all reports have a common database linkage?

It may be possible to design a report with parameter selectable group/detail/footer sections to give many different report looks from the same basic data set.

Failing that you could perhaps put each subreport into a section of its own, splitting to a new page after each subreport is printed.

Thx for the reply...

I have asked for more details from the client several times and did not really recieve any helpful info. It appears that I am to come up with a solution (a report) and just make it and see what they think. All I want to do (due to time restraints) is take one report, then simply add 2 other existing rpts into it (in the form of sub rpts). All of the reports run off of the same database so I think/hope the linking will work, I believe that it will. Let me know if you need more details.

Thx

Jamie

They run off the same database...but do they use the same tables/linkages

If they can all exist independent of each other, have you considered just leaving them as unlinked subreports in the report header or footer?

Or do they have to intertwine in some way?

Unlinked sub rpts? Sure ... sounds like a good idea to me. The problem with this is that I don't really know how this is done. Could you please explain. I just want to throw them in so they print together.

Thx again ...

Jamie
