Anyone know how you can disable any print screen function in any windows product?

Start, Run, regedit

Backup this key: [HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboa
rd Layout]

To a file: print_scr.reg

Open notepad and copy/paste the below as no_print_scr.reg :

********* start copy/paste below this line
REGEDIT4

[HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboa
rd Layout]
"Scancode Map"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,04,00,00,00,00,00,2a,e0,00
,00,37,e0,00,00,54,00,00,00,00,00

********** end copy/paste above this line

a regedit /s no_print_scr.reg will disable the key.
a regedit /s print_scr.reg will enable the key

Bcastner, I followed your instructions to the letter but it didn't work- even after a reboot. I have XPpro if that helps.

Thank's GPalmer711 but I was looking more for a quick fix like a registry hack. I probably should have mentioned that before

The editor on this site mangles REG_MULTISZ listings I am afraid.

Let me try it again with all formatting turned off. In the alternative, enter the values by hand and export the key:

[tt]

********* start copy/paste below this line
REGEDIT4

[HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]
"Scancode Map"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,04,00,00,00,00,00,2a,e0,00,00,37,e0,00,00,54,00,00,00,00,00

********** end copy/paste above this line
[/tt]

In the cases above, (say KeyTweak as an example) you would highlight key #124, and click Disable key.

. Export the Key Scancode Map as discussed earlier

. Run KeyTweak and disable the key. Save your changes and test. Then export from regedit the Scancode Map as discussed earlier.
