I've been trying to do a Hold Frame, with no success. As far as I can tell, I'm following Premiere's instructions appropriately, but no frozen frame has so far appeared -- nothing at all happens, so far as I can tell.

Details!

What exactly are you doing and what exactly is being exported? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have an animation clip that already has a hold on the end, but it's too short. I need to extend it about one second so I can do a dissolve on it.

Also, just generally, I want the ability to select video frames and turn them into stills.

I stepped through the procedures given in the On-line Help, but nothing happened at the end of it.

Any ideas?

Similar to that, I've had clips that I wanted to play through their completion, then hold the last frame for five seconds. I load the clip twice in the timeline, and I tell the second clip to hold on the out frame. Then to change the clip's duration without changing the outframe, change the clip's speed. You can change the speed by a percentage or change the speed to match a particular duration. Set the duration to five seconds, and it's done.

For what you mentioned, you can just change the speed to a duration of one second. The same methodology can be used to hold any frame for any duration.

Not sure if this is the generally accepted way of doing things, but it's what I've managed to do. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another possibility is to use a still image. Scrub to the last frame of your clip, and from the menu select:
File->Export Timeline->Frame...

This will create a bitmap of the last frame.
Drag the bitmap onto the timeline after your clip and it should default to 5 seconds duration. Adjust its duration as necessary.

One other thing you may want to consider is applying a de-interlace filter to bitmap. When it is rendered later on, it'll appear to jump or flicker unless you do.
