I am having major probelms with windows 2000 professional. While on the web my computer is constantly locking up and the only way to free it is by pressing the reboot key somtimes that deosnt even work and i have to swich off at mains. The power swich deosnt work and i then have no keyboad or mouse. Also since thsi probelm started i am having a probem starting my computer and this seems toi be getting worse. I have checked for viruses at panad and by using avg and pencillian and no viruses are present at all. My isp reckons it could well be a probelm with the windows 2000 installation as i do not seem to have msconfig as this doesnt show and also an adapotor is not showing atht should be in my sip software. H e thinks somthing may be running in start up causing this probelm but as i cant run msconfig i cant find out. He suggests that i wipe my drive and install a fresh copy of the operating system. How do i do this in windows 2000 professional.
Thanks for any help you may give moonshadow

Boot from your Windows 2000 CD it will prompt you to format the drive during the setup allowing you to wipe your HD and install a fresh copy of Windows 2000

Hi,

For after your reinstall:
A free clone of MSConfig which works great on Win2K is the Startup Control Panel from
You can also erase partitions using tools such as FDISK and PartitionMagic - but I would ensure that all data is backed up before wiping, whichever method you choose to use.
