I am attempting to use the running total function in a cross tab report.
I am calculating the beginning balance gallons - the transaction gallons, to get the ending balance.
If I show the beginning balance column, then the number repeats for each individual transaction, which looks funny. If I cut the data item out of the report (but leave it in the query) the function doesn't work. I have also tried hiding the column as well which still doesn't work. My colleague is also having trouble with the running difference function, that may be the same issue. Any help is appreciated.

running aggregates (total , count etc) are generated by the Cognos server AFTER fetching the detail data from the database. A running total makes sense for a list where data is displayed at the same grain of the query. For a crosstab it hardly makes sense I guess..

I would suggest starting a new thread (since the subject is different) and redefining 'most common records'..
