hello all,

I have windows 98, I installed win2003 server. I am not happy with it(w2003server) so I want to delete it off my comp...without sending all my data to a far away place by formatting...how can/should I go about doing this...

..i dont know what the standard is here for specs or if its useful to the question...let me know.(looks at the time 3:41am)..bangs his head on the keyboarb doooh!

Thanx in advance :D

chewbakka153,

Are you saying that you replaced Windows 98 with 2003 Server, or do you have a dual-boot computer? If it's dual-boot, you should have separate partitions for the different versions of Windows, and you can just format the 2003 Server partition.

I have dual boot on 2 different drives 1 is 98 the other is 2003server. I want to delete/remove 2003 server completly from my system options and from my computer...I just want to keep 98...And I want to try to do this all without reformatting :D...oh and a burger might help..thanx in advance..

You'll be using 2k3's boot menu to dual boot - so you could just remove the 2k3 bit from boot.ini and wipe the 2k3 drive - and it should just boot into 98. Boot.ini should look like:-

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=C:\
[operating systems]
C:\="Microsoft Windows"

Or you could run sys C: from a dos prompt in 98 or booting from 98 boot floppy. This will restore 98's boot sector - so machine should just boot into 98 (again - just wipe the 2k3 disk - as its on separate drive).

Umm, just out of curiosity, what are you doing with Win2003 Server in the first place, and why did you decide to install it on an older 98 PC?
