How do I telnet to Exchange server??

Hello,
I am trying to telnet a new message to a mailbox on an Exchange 5.5 server. I am following the Microsoft KB article Q15311. Here is what happens:When I telnet to port 25 I get the 220 reply. After I type HELO test.company.com, I get the 250 reply. But when I type the MAIL FROM:<Admin@po1.company.com>, I get no reply. Then I get a session closed message. Thanks in advance.

The firewall is blocking the replys. The Q article works just fine on the internal network.
