I was sold an illegal copy of windows xp, not to my knowledge at the time, but it crashed and when i went to reinstall it i found out that i lost the PRODUCT KEY NUMBER, if anyone can tell me how to get what i've installed so far off of my pc, or how to get a new PRODUCT KEY NUMBER, you would help me out a lot, thank you

Well it looks like you have a problem..You will probably have to purchase a brand new copy of XP since it isnt Mircosoft's problem that it was "illegal". How did you get the copy? It sounds like you didnt buy it in a store and it wasnt shrink wrapped.

it was wrapped and i had the number, but i lost it, and i have windowxp professional, so i want to install that, but i can't get this blasted xp home edition off my hard drive, i think i can reformat the hard drive, but how do i do that?
