How do I subtract 1 from a field when a record is added...

Hi, I have a sales form and subform. Everytime the record is added, I need to somehow get the amount of stock deducted as the items are sold. Is there anyway to do this?

The item quantity is stored in a number field.

You need to make yourself a little clearer....you have your sales form which presumably is running on a sales table or a query of some sort. And how about your subform? I'm also assuming that you have some stock table...Please, confirm what it is you have and what it is you are trying to achieve...
