Hi all,

I'm using Access Macros 2003 to get details from an excel spreadsheet into text files which are then loaded into an Oracle database.

I'm using the 'TransferSpreadsheet' action to copy the details to a table then the 'TransferText' action to move it to my Oracle-ready input file, however one of my spreadsheets has data in the format
£100000
£997899
£978645
£997635
.....etc
instead of just being numerics.

Is there any way to strip out the £ signs automatically as a Macro action?
I'm fairly new to Access so any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thnx, Ian

You can certainly get rid of the £ signs but how you do it might depend on the datatypes involved. You need to create a query based on the table and instead of including the 'currencyfieldname' field you include a column like:

Newfieldname:CDbl(currencyfieldname)

Then export this query instead of the table.
