Hopefull this is simple, but it's driving me absolutely crackers!
I downloaded KaZaA Media Desktop (a P2P filesharing program) It installed itself on the desktop and also into the startup portion of the taskbar alongside volume control, McAfee av, etc. When Windows loads, KaZaA autolaunches and then calls for the dial-up-networking panel. If I cancel DUN, then Explorer crashes. I cannot get KaZaA out of the Startup portion of the taskbar. No KaZaA file is found in any Startup folder. I searched the registry for any setting that might invoke KaZaA but came up empty. There is a box to select under Tools/Options in KaZaA for automatic startup, but that is clearly deselected. Control Panel/Taskbar is not showing anything to remove or deselect. How the heck do I remove a program from Windows startup tasklist?
