I have two computers that are connected to a large network. One of these has a printer attached locally, how do I share it so that a second pc in the same room can use the printer???
Please
Regards
In general, activate file and printer sharing.
In properties of the printer, click sharing.

It is a HP1200 printer, I have set the printer on the computer it is connected to as shared. So now how do i print from the other computer???
Please and thanks
Set up a printer, as a network printer.
Gets a little more complex that that, depending on OS.
Try your OS help program, it has the procedure covered.

This is how it's done in Windows 2000. I don't remember if it's the same in Windows 98, but I'm sure it's close. Anyway...
Before you get started. You need to make note of two things. First, make note of the network ID of the computer the printer is physically connected to. Second, make note of the share name of the printer. When you set it up to share, you needed to supply a "shared as" name.
The rest is all done on computers that you want to be able to print to this printer, but are not physically (or locally) connected to the printer:
1. Open the Add Printer Wizard
2. Select "network printer". Click "Next"
3. Select "Type the printer name, or click next to browse for a printer"
4. In the text box below, type \\ServerName\PrinterName where ServerName is the network ID for the computer that the printer is physically connected to and PrinterName is the shared name for that printer. Click "Next"
5. Decide if you want to make it your default printer. Click "Next"
6. Click "Finish" and you should be good to go.
