I just installed IIS from my Win2000 CD. When I open Personal Web Manager, on the MAIN window I read: Web publishing is off. Your home page is not available.

What do I do?

I need to use IIS to read files from localhost

Can someone guide me? [cry]

1) Start>Run> MMC
2) File> Add/Remove Snap-in.
3) Find and add IIS to your MMC
4) After you do all of that, save it. Ussually it would save to Administrative Tools.
5) your IIS is now started.
Expend "Web Sites" : your localhost directory is there: ussually it shows C:\Inetpub\

I followed your steps:
Start/Run/MMC/Console/AddRemove Snap-in/Add/IIS Virtual Directory Management../Add/Close
Saved Console1.msc under Administrative Tools

I closed the program.

I opened Personal Web Manager and I still see on window MAIN: Web publishing is off. Your home page is not available

I then opened my browser, typed and it re-directs me to the following page on the web:

You could try going to

start/settings/control panel/administrative tools/services and looking down the bottom of the list for "World wide web publishing service" right click on that and select "start".

I had a problem with IIS similar to your own, the problem was due to this service not starting properly (turned out to because zonealarm blocked the
