hi, i am new to exchange server 2000,and i need some help. i have done a normal backup of our exchange server, and i have built a new machine to restore the backup too. i am able to restore the system state and some stuff i backed up on the c drive, but when i try to restore the Microsoft Information store\CBStore2 and Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group, it tells me that it can't restore because exchange is either not running or not installed on the machine. However, when i go into services, everything for Exchange says that it is started. Does anyone know what i am doing wrong...i've got a ton of information on what to back up, but almost nothing on how to restore...thanks...danielle

Yeah goto the Backup Tab. Then Tools -> Remote Store and enter the server name. Then goto the Restore Tab and restore. Dan
