I got a dB and most likely someboyd shut the computer down with the DB open. I get the error msg:

The database \\blablabla.mdb needs to be repaired or isn't a database file.
you or another user may have unexpectedly quit microsoft access while a Microsoft Access databse was open.
Do you want Microsoft Access to attempt to repair the database?

when I click on Yes

It gives me the error message. Not a valid password.

Any ideas...?

Thanks!

Can you get to the database window when you open the database without providing a password? Robert Berman

Well, then obviously this password does not really exist. My suggestion to you is treat this as a corrupt database. Create a new database and attempt to import every object of your database into the new database. If it is successful, your problem is finished. Robert Berman

Thanks thorn master... actually I downloaded the JETCOM.exe utility from Microsoft and that worked.

Apparently the previous version of the recovery utility attempted to open the DB and then repair it and compac it.

The new version goes the other way... does the compacting and the repair, then it opens the database... I do appreciate all the help dude... thankX
