I want to remove multiple boot O.S. choices on boot up. How do i remove the windows 2000 listing. I want windows Me to boot up with no multiple O.S. choices to pick from. I removed windows 2000 and left windows Me.

Edit the file BOOT.INI. Remove lines with reference to win2000. If not already set, use ME for default boot. Set timeout to 0.

rpaltz,

The boot.ini should look something like this:-

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=C:[operating systems]
C:\="Microsoft Windows"

Timeout shouldn't matter if no choice.

PS. This is still the 2k boot loader of course.
You can reinstate ME's bootloader by booting from an ME boot floppy ( or create on in ME add/remove programs if you haven't one) and running sys C: from the A: prompt. Before doing this check the msdos.sys file looks something like this:-

[Paths]
WinDir=C:\WINDOWS
WinBootDir=C:\WINDOWS
HostWinBootDrv=C

[Options]
BootMulti=1
Logo=1
BootGUI=1
AutoScan=1
WinVer=4.90.3000
;
;The following lines are required for compatibility with other programs.
;Do not remove them (MSDOS.SYS needs to be >1024 bytes).

BootMenu=0

If it doesn't, edit it so it does, and save it elsewhere in case you need to restore it later (sys C: may write a minimal one).
