I have just installed a 20gig hard drive and I have forgotten how to configure the rest of the 18gigs after I load DOS6.22 and Windows Me. Any help would be greatly welcomed.
if you mean that you have a 2Gig FAT Partition, you need to convert it to a Fat32 Partition, then use a utility like Partition Magic to resize out the rest of it,
or... you could just wipe the drive, it may be possible that WinME is bootible (the CD that is) and it might chose to create a fresh Fat32 Partition taking up the whole drive.
the only other way I can think of without doing much work (WinME is an exception as it has no DOS)
is to run FDISK and create a Fat32 Partition full.
so what you'll end up with is
C: 2Gig FAT Partition
D: 18Gig Fat32 Partition

To do this, you'll need fdisk.exe and format.com from Windows 9x/ME - and, of course, a bootable system disk from one of these O/Ses - DOS 6.22 cannot support hard disks larger than 2Gb, and it cannot run system programs form later O/Ses.
To make a system disk under Windows ME, you must create it from the System Disk tab in Add/remove Programs under Control Panel.
I think if you have Win98 you should go back and format the HardDrive and install that and then upgrade to ME so you can get full use of your 20gig drive without all kinds of partitions. Otherwise you need to go to Start >> run..then fdisk choose option 1 to create a dos partition. Create the partition. The obligitory reboot and the right click your new drive and format it and there you go.
