How do I pull the whileprintingrecords formula into a Cross Tab report

I have written a report which contains a whileprintingrecords formula on the details line of the report. I want to insert a Cross Tab into the header of the report and hide the details, however when I go to generate the Cross Tab, the whileprintingrecords formula does not appear in the selection of fields that I can use to compile the Cross tab. I am trying to put the whileprintingrecords formula in the Summary of the Cross Tab

You can't summarise on formulas containing process control functions, like WhilePrintingRecords, or EvaluateAfter.

Remove the line WhilePrintingRecords, and try again.
