Hi there
I am using Quarkxpress 4.11 and am trying to print a Quark file (piece of artwork) on my epsom printer to the edges of the paper.
Using some software from Epsom, I can print photos right to the edge of A4 sheets of paper, covering the entire area of the paper, but while trying to print a quark file, despite setting the epsom to print to the maximum area, it leaves a 2.5mm border unprinted around the edge of the paper... I can only assume this is something to do with the Quark software... unless someone can kindly shed some light on the situation... please :~)))

I assume you're using a postscript driver (Like laserwriter 8.x or AdobePS) to print? If so, the driver will refer to the printer description file in your system folder for printable margins. If your Epson software does print to the edges, then it's possible a custom size with 0 margins will work for you. Some printer drivers let you define such a custom size; if not, you may have to edit the descriptions in the printer description file (which is dangerous if you don't know what you're doing: save a backup, open the duplicate in a word-p;rocessing program, and copy one of the page type blocks to build a new block with a new name, editing margins to 0 points. If you do something wrong and you get a crash, reinstall the backup you saved.)

If you're not using a postscript printer driver, I'm not sure how you would modify the print description.

Apologies to GeorgeMack...
There was an option in the Epson software for 'No Margins' which I totally missed. It's printing fine now.... but I will remember your tip about printing to PS files for other stuff... I guess text attributes are captured in a PS file which can then be distilled with Acrobat Distiller...to write to PDF... which you then print... is this what you would do?

Sorry but your printer may not be able to print to the edge of the paper. I have a couple of Epson 5000's I cant print 5mm on 3 edges and 15mm on the back edge. If you can't fix it in 20 minutes call someone who can.

What I generally do is either print it out on larger paper (my Epson will do 11 x 17 or even larger when I get special paper), or else shrink to fit, and trim. It's a little pain, but I've been doing it for about 20 years one way or another (way back in the stat and galley-proof dark ages) so I'm used to it. Sometimes that's easier than other software hoops to jump through.

Best wishes
