How do I place running total fields on a graph?

I have a running total field that matches(line up) with the groups in a group header. Each time I try to do a graph, I do not see the running totals I created. How do I get the running totals on a graph?

Can we assume you are inserting a running total from the field explorer? Running totals in most cases only display correctly in footer sections, so how is the running total set up? Or are you using a variable? If so, what is the content of the formula?
