I have a 1.2 gig AMD Athlon. I have taken care of it pretty well and I don't think I have overheated it. Now I have no post beeps on boot (see the other recent thread explaining all I have done to fix this). I am at wits end and the only thing I havent tried to replace is the HD and the cpu.

How I have always tested it is to put the CPU in a known working motherboard. If there is no beeps or post, it is dead. Unfortunatly I don't know of any other way to test them. But after skimming through your other post. That would be my conclusion, a dead CPU. If you are positive that you didn't do anything wrong, (if there is still warranty left) the warranty _should_ cover it. Mike Wills

dear benhunt, can u check the cpu with a motherboard and a vga card ,may be due to other problems the cpu will not work.iam a three year experienced person in this field.it is rare to get a damage processor.thats why iam saying to check the cpu in another motherboard and with an another power supply.can you check in this way and give reply to me in shebeer@yahoo.com

Yeah I checked it in another motherboard...no dice. Still have the same problem. The only thing I feel better about now is the fact that I am no longer afraid to open, take apart, and rebuild computers.

It is really frustrating. Someone said that I am smarter than my computer...well I guess I am havin trouble "dumbing down" myself...
