Can someone please tell me the proceedures for adding an Ip phone. I have added the phone at the PBX console as IP phone, what do I do next, do I just plug in the phone and login with the password?

Hi,

providing you have all the resources set up on the switch, CLAN, MEDPRO etc.. and have set up your DHCP server (option 176) to allow the phone to obtain an IP address....and got a tftp server (file server) running with the latest phone firmware so the IP phones can update themselves.

then you should be good to go....just set up a new station with the type set to an IP model give it a security code...plug it into you corporate LAN where it can see the controling CLAN (call server), tftp and DHCP server.....and away you go...log on the extn

hope this helps

Point to remember, TFTP server and Option 176 are only good for 46xx phones. The 96xx phones use an HTTP server and Option 242 (DHCP).

Does anyone have an example of an Option 242 HTTP scope for 96xx IP phones?

its the same as for the option 176

The settings are very similar but not exactly the same as SSON 176. Please note, I have outlined the "most important" parameters. Some DHCP templates have a character limit. Take care.
