How do I install a RAD on an 8x24 DR5?

I have an 8x24 test bed that I'm setting up. It has DR5 software, Rel 01A, SP: 30MVL11, RTP: 30GBG03. The RAD is an NT8B80AN.

Problem is that though I've worked with them, I've never set one up before. From what I know, I think that it has to be wired to a digital port and the line that I'm going to use to dial into it needs to be set up to be answered by that digital line port, but I don't know if there's any more configuration needed. I tried searching this forum already, and I can't find it in any of my docs, unfortunately.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Ross

OK... I've set it up with the aid of some documentation that I found, but it doesn't tell me how to reset the password on the RAD. (only a FastRAD... and it seems that the procedures aren't the same).

any idea how to reset the password on a FastRAD?

Open up the RAD (unplugged)and short out the Battery for a second. It will default the rad back to Factory settings.

Actually, I found this:

1. Set date to April 15, XXXX. (Year doesn’t matter)
2. Dial F9**
3. Press left soft key 5x
4. Press middle soft key 6x
5. Press right soft key 8x
6. Press Hold
7. Dial 2 then Dial 1
8. RLS

on another forum. This blows away the system ID, so when you reset it apparently the password is set to the system ID. At least, that's how it worked for me.

BTW... what IS the factory setting for the PW, or is the factory setting none?

Interesting... the remote software won't accept a blank field. Or is it "NONE" spelled out?

Animal, Try using the customer's Line 1 number for the System ID (ie: SYSID=1234567890), and setup your own password.

To reset Fast RAD password this is what I do.

Set Norstar KSU date to Feb 2, 1998.

1 Dail F9**
2 Press Left soft key 8 times
3 Press Middle soft key 3 times
4 Press Right soft key 7 times
5 Press Hold The display should read FastRAD debug
6 Dial 2
7 Dial 1
8 Rls

9 Now Dial F9**
10 Should say Password and give you a chance to change it.

Note: You may want to unplug a Voice Mail while doing this.
