Amazingly, on my old pc, I would click the save password check box after entering my password, and would never enter it again. Now that I have a new machine, and have migrated the folders, I created new connections and click the save password check box after entering the password, and it looks ok.

Then, next time I Send/Receive I am prompted for password. I click the save password again, and I am ok for a little while, but if I shut down outlook, and restart, I am entering the password again.

Outlook 2000 SP3 (9.0.0.6627)

Thanks in advance.

Ok, I tried the above for Outlook 2000 SP3 on Windows 2000 Pro. When I follow the insructions in the link, I can not delete the Registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Protected Storage System Provider
In the instructions, step 3 states to make sure the permissions are set correctly. When I click on the key, I do not get the "Permissions" option. My OS is up-to-date on all the service packs, so is the office 2000.

The jest of it all is that outlook is for some reason not saving the password when it is typed in. Office has been de-installed, cleaned registry of office entries and re-installed, performed office 2000 updates to SP3.

If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

What happens when you try to delete the key? - Is there any error message?

Is your hard drive formatted as NTFS and does you user account have local administration priveledges?
