How do I find the BIOS info? 2

I forgot to ask this in one of my other threads.

I read another thread in which the steps included seeing if there was an upgrade for my BIOS but I don't know where to find this info. Is it on the board info that came with the pc? If not, how? System Information does not list it.

Also, Planning on clean installing xpp on 40GB hdd as FAT32. Can I do this without any problems? Right now the entire hdd is partitioned as one 40GB FAT32.

Just plain answers will be appreciated. I have read those links others have sent my way but they just keep repeating themselves and tell me nothing.

Yes...plain and simple...xp will work on a partition of 40GB FAT32.

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your motherboard. They very well should have a page somewhere that has updated bios for download and will tell you how to flash it (put it on your pc). Make sure that it is the correct bios update for your specific model! "Close enough" doesn't cut it when it comes to flashing your BIOS....must be your make and model exactly.

If your system works fine don't bother with bios upgrade.

However:
To identify your motherboard and bios you can use
the bios agent from eSupport .

Then goto the motherboard manufacturers web site
for download & instructions.

To add to crazy888s response, WinXP can't CREATE FAT32 partitions larger than 32GB but can work with them just fine. I use a Win98SE floppy to create the partitions and format them. Be aware that Win98 FDISK has a limit of 64GB but there is a patch available. I have WinXP Pro on a 40GB FAT32 drive and WinXP HE on a 40GB FAT32 drive.
