I have loads of MP3 songs on my computer. All songs have a 5-10 second gap at the end of silence. How do I edit the songs to make them shorter so I no longer get the 5-10 sec gap, instead getting a 2 sec gap of silence. Is there a program I can download that will do this? Or can I just do it in Windows? I haven't seen anything I can use in Windows that will shorten my MP3s, or does Win Media Player do it? How?

Thanks in advance Biffo, the Godfather of making mistakes in life. Although, his Tek-Tips answers and questions are no mistakes.

Look for a program called Total Recorder from High Criteria. ----

I'm not sure what this Total Recorder program does, but you can always convert the .mp3 files to .wav files then there are a wide range of programs you can use to edit the sound file. Then when done encode them back to .mp3 format (you'll lose a little quality, but it's hardly even noticable).

I'd suggest that you look for "audacity". This is a audio editor which does lot of tasks that would enhance your mp3's, and best of all it's freeware. Search for its web site, and you won't be disappointed.
