Hey everyone.

At my company we have a compliance officer that needs to keep all business practices under scrutiny, either by checking hard drives or... you guessed it, watching outgoing mail.

Instead of forcing agents to manually BCC all email to the compliance officer (which they could simply choose not to do if they didn't want mail to be seen), is there a way to automatically BCC all outgoing mail to a specified mailbox?

Is it possible to select certain accounts to apply this to, or would it apply to all?

Any help would be appreciated... thanks :)

Ah you want to search for "Message Journaling". a couple of registry changes and you can easily divert a copy of all outgoing mail to a mailbox.

Thanks for the tip on where to start looking :)

I appreciate it.

Well, the MS knowledge bases stuff did not seem to work, however, I followed this guide:

...and -it- worked.

The only problem is it receives all INCOMING mail too! That makes the receiving mailbox build up mail extremely fast, and takes up much more server space.

Anyone know a way that I can apply it to outbound only...using the above guide?

Thanks

We only journal Outgoing mail here (I set it up).

I will have a look through my docs and post back with the way I did it.

Found anything out yet? This new mailbox builds up EXTREMELY fast. I don't want to eat up precious server space (we haven't upgraded in a while, HDs are pretty small).

Hi again,

I am afraid I have had no luck as of yet, I will take a peep through the registry to see if I can find out from there.

Thanks a lot, your help is much appreciated :)

Just to say I have had no luck as of yet I am afraid.

I am having trouble locating the section which defines logging type.

Well, interestingly...I seem to have figured it out completely by accident.

As I said, I'm using the method linked to above, and the FIRST step you take is adding a REG_DWORD value with the name No Local Delivery and setting its data to '1'.

Well, I figured maybe this would be an On/Off switch for the whole process (I don't know if I sound ignorant or not by saying that), so I set it to '0'. The mailbox instantly stopped receiving mail.

To make sure everything was okay, I sent myself mail from yahoo.com, and it came thru.

Well, this morning, I open the compliance box, and there was mail in it...but ONLY outgoing!

So, I don't truly understand the mechanics of what is going on, but, hey, everything is cool now. :)

Thanks for your help, if you have any idea why doing what I did worked, heh, please let me know :)
