We use BAB v9 on Windows 2000 SP4. I have tried several times to prioritize the order of a backup job, but seem to be having dificulty. I think I am misunderstanding something.

When "you" submit a backup job in Arcserve, what exactly is the purpose of the "Source Priority" option? My assumption is that it allows you to pick and choose the order of the backup job, meaning which (servers, shares, databases) sessions will run first, second, etc., last).

When I try to set a certain order, the backup will only run in alphabetical order. For example,

Names of Servers to backup: A, B , C, D
Preferred order, "source priority" setting: D, B, C, A
Actual order at end of backup: A, B, C, D

I'm sure I'm missing something. Anyone know what?

Thanks in advance...

I've seen this too, when adjusting the source priority ARCserve doesn't seem to pich up the settings.
Your thinking id OK but I think there is a bug somewhere. Do you use some kind of rotation job (standard rotation or GFS)??

Duplicate thread of "AS9 source priority" in this same forum.

We use GFS rotation, but I don't see how that would matter. I haven't tested in a NON-GFS mode but I need to use GFS, so even if the test works, it won't apply to me.

Instead of changing the GUI to green, they (CA) should have fixed these long standing issues....
