How can I solve fax problems?

I have no control over the Faxing "thing" which came with my W2K and I have rarely used - but suddenly need. It does exactly as it likes - including suddenly sending off a fax again next time I start up my system. Otherwise sometimes obediently sends off a fax as required but next time I am ignored. All I have is a totally meaningless "Fax Queue" which indicates it is going to send a fax "Now" - but doesn't.

Does anyone have any ideas on this please? Or better still - does anyone know where I can find a simple shareware faxing program?

Try a Google Search on Fax Freeware Win2K and see if it yields any hits.
