How can I recover the files of an admin account?

Hi!

Well, my OS got corrupted and can't repair it (the machine always get hung up in process).
The only option I got to solve this is by reinstalling the OS. No problem, except for the fact that I still have some files in the Desktop and My Documents. It ocurred to me to save these files by installing the HD as slave in other computer, but such procedure didn't work. Most likely because I don't have the rights to see those files, etc.

What can I do to recover them?

Do you see think this might work?

-A new Reinstallation of the OS on top of itself. No file
will be erase ( I suppose) and I will be able to use them
again. I'm not sure about this one as I could still have
the same problems:admin rights, etc. I haven't applied this
option as I fear to delete the files

If you are the admin of the machine the drive is slaved in. You should be able to take ownership of the folders and files. I don't remeber the steps. But if you google yuo may find it.

Yes, you need to take ownership of the folders. I'm sure if you search for "Taking Ownership" usig the Search feature above this thread, there will be quite a few results, that will tell you how to do it.
