When I open a web page the first time in a day, quite frequent (not always) I would get a popup saying it is preparing Windows Office Premium 2000 installation. I have had this Office version installed. After I hit "Cancel" to stop this popup, I don't get it again later on even I open the web page again in the same date.

The next day, the same thing happens again. What is the problem? I have already removed all spywares/cookies and no virus was found. Can I stop this popup. My browser is IE7.

Thanks

You say you "have had" that version. Do you still?

Before you use the Installer CleanUp Utility, please note it states:

"Warning The Windows Installer CleanUp Utility is provided "as is" to help resolve installation problems for programs that use Microsoft Windows Installer. If you use this utility, you may have to reinstall other programs. Caution is advised. We recommend that you do not use this utility with 2007 Office system products."

You will probably need your Office disks and product key afterward. This comes from personal experience.

JPaules,

Was your personal experience using it on an early Office, or did you try it on Office 2007?

Windows Installer starts unexpectedly in an Office 2000 program on Windows NT 4.0, Terminal Server Edition, or on Windows 2000 Server with Terminal Services enabled

Earlier version of Office. This was about two years ago and I heeded their warning. I prefer to warn people before they run the utility and *then* find out they don't know where their disks are, etc. Forewarned is forearmed, blah, blah, blah. ;-)

(The utility did clean up whatever my issue was though.)

I still have Office 2000 Premium. I installed that successfully.

I will check the install cleaner anyway. Thanks

Look in the add-on for i.e.
<Based on ie7>
Launch i.e.
Open Tools > Internet Options > Programs > Manage Add Ons

look for Add Ons tha have been used by Internet Explorer.

See if there are any Office ones in there, especially Office Updater.

Stu..

Most people spend their time on the "urgent" rather than on the "important."

Next time you get that install popup, instead of hitting cancel, go ahead and place your Office 2000 CD into the CD drive... then when it asks where the PROx.MSI file is located at (x stands for the version of Office and I believe 2000 is version 9 ), browse to the CD ROM where it is located at... and let it install what it needs...

the reason why you are getting that message in the first place is that something has scrambled the install config, possible another install, and Windows Installer has noticed this and is trying to repair the config file...
