Hi

I have Windows 2000 professional on my laptop.
It has gone gone funny and doesn't startup. When I start up my laptop, it start and scroll down to systems file and stop.

It look like windows gone currupted.

Please could you help me to repair this problem, with out lossing my all other installed software.

Many Thank

You could try:

Booting from your Win2K disk and choosing the 'Repair' option on the setup screen. This will replace any corrupted files from the disk.

Similar to the above advice but without a full install.

Hope this helps.

(If you do have access to any of your files, back them up first before trying any kind of installation).

Aich that link I posted you do use R for repair...
"# When you are prompted to repair the existing Windows 2000 installation, press R. Windows 2000 Setup performs an in-place upgrade of the existing installation. Note that you might lose some of your customized settings for the system files."

Although I would recommend to change the steps a bit the first time Windows prompts you about repair on install chose install then after a while it will ask you again if you want to repair and this time say YES to repair as this will keep files and installed programs settings.

If that fails then do the first repair option as it goes deeper and removes more stuff than the second and might fix the problem...if this fails format and re-install.

As always if its possible take backups of any important files that you need to keep especially after doing a format as this will clear EVERYTHING.
