How can I fix a "Windows Socket Initialization Failed" error?

Reload winsock. It's part of your internet.
Remove your connection to the internet, and then go to control panel, add/remove progs, communications, dial-up-networking, and remove it.
Restart, and then go to Start > Run > and type in: inetwiz
That will recreate a connection to the net, and reload all the stuff needed, including winsock. Cheers,
Jim
