I am required to disable SQL Mail as part of compliance with policy. I have looked everywhere, but I can't seem to find the way to do it.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

It's in Support Services in Enterprise Manager. A white envelope is "not configured", green is "running", and red is "stopped".

My apologies. I should have mentioned that I am using SQL Server 2000. Support Services is unique to 2005, isn't it? If not, I guess I just don't know where it is in 2000.

Could you clarify that for me? :)

Thanks!

WOW!!!! I can not believe that I never saw that. My eyes just glossed right over it! Thanks!!!

Well, I found it, but now I am having trouble disabling it. I have the profile set up right now, and it's still white. According to the post, shouldn't it be green or red?

Regardless, I tried to delete the profile out of the box, but the OK button grays out. I was able to get to that same box through Server Settings, with the same result.

So, I just gave it a fake profile. Is that the same as disabling SQL Mail?

Thanks!

-Chris

If the profile isn't valid SQL Mail won't work.
