How can I create a string of characters longer than 255 characters from within a formula. The String data type seems to limit the capabilities of crystal to 255. Importing longer data types from a database seems to be possible, why can't I create one in a formula?

Thanks for your help,
Todd Peterson

That is the output limit for a formula with the string data type. You can create and manipulate strings longer than this from within formulas - the restriction is on the output.

You can take several formulas, each with output of 250, and combine them in a text object to have them appear as one object. Ken Hamady, On-site/Phone Crystal Reports Training/Consulting
