I am reformatting my HDD and I am getting a 'Your drive may be damaged' error message whenever I do a Full Format using NTFS. If I do a quick format it seems to be ok though.

How can I do a drive integrity check without an operating system? I assume I need to do it from a floppy disk or CD rom?

Any suggestions for a good free one?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Hola,

every HD-Manufacturer has their own HD checking utility, ie. Seagate with their Seagatetools, or IBM/Hitachi with their DFT, etc. so best would be to check the Homepage of the manufacturer for said programs... most run in DOS mode, some others within Windows...

hope this helps...

Ben

If it works don't fix it! If it doesn't use a sledgehammer...
