how can flash read barcodes if scanned

Hi!

I need Flash to read a barcode when scanned in with a barcode scanner, and to call an image to appear that corresponds with the barcode that's scanned in. Anyone know how this worls please??

Flash can't read bar codes.... but you can read bar codes with the software supplied by your scanner company, store the bar code value in an external file and then Flash can read that value and display the cooresponding image.

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!

thanks for your help....what kind of file should i store the number in??? Can Flash read from a notepad file??...How do i call the file in flash???Sorry but this is new to me.
