I need to get XP Professional so I can use IIS. Someone posted on another forum that you can't upgrade directly from home to pro. He said he had to install 2000 over home first. Also I noticed on the upgrade packages that XP home is NOT one of the operating systems listed that you can upgrade from.

This seems kind of unbelieveable. Has anyone out there done this upgrade? Any tips?

Do I really need to do a fresh install and reinstall all my apps?

Thanks!

Because we have a MS select agreement that includes Windows XP pro we save money by purchasing new laptops with no operating system. They always shipped them with XP home installed and I have upgraded about a dozen laptops running XP home to XP pro without any problems. On a personal note if it where my personal computer I would do a clean install, all of the manufactures install a lot of junk that most users don’t want or need.
