For an individual mailbox, I would just CACHING mode and create a caching mailbox on the local computer. You can then copy that folder and burn it to a CD/DVD and then keep it forever.
To access it later, you just have to copy the contents to another computer, change it from READ ONLY and use the version of the client that cached it to open it. You will need the user name and the password that the user put on the caching mailbox.
So write down: client version, user name and password for sure or you're hosed.
Use this shortcut to access the copied caching mode mailbox.
