I have heard that the VB6 Variant data type has been superceded by the Object data type in VB.Net. Is the VB.Net Object data type a strict superset of Variant ( in the sense that whatever you can do with/to a Variant can also be done to/with a VB.Net Object ). If not can anyone enumerate the differences.

PS actually what I have heard is that the VB.Net Object is an amalgam of Variant and v.6 Objects. Would this make any difference to the answer?
