I have a core router Cisco 4506 and can no longer telent to the router and have to use the console port to get in.

I used the global command: servic tcp-keepalives-in, whick I thought was supposed to prevent those terminal conenctions from building up.

Can some one explain how to disconnect the active connections?

TIA

the command to disconnect a telnet session is
'clear line vty x', where x is the line that has an open session.

Do a show users and it should list the users with a vty number . Do a clear vty (vty number) . To keep telnet sessions clear use the exec-timeout command on your vty sessions , use something like 15 -20 minutes. this will log out the sessions after 15 minutes of inactivity .

Sorry forgot the line before the vty command.

Thanks much Degg & Viper!

So much to learn, so little time...
