hi i have been doing some house keeping on our exchange 5.5 machine (running nt4 all sps etc are on) because the harddrive with the information store is starting to get a bit full. I have gone thru users mailboxes and deleted a lot of old mail, they have cleared out large attachemtns on emails and got rid of items in the deleted items folder. In echange admin i can see their mailboxes have decreased in size- but the drive is still very full- in fact i dont seem to have gained any space! is there a utility i need to run or a process to get back the space of the mails i have got rid of?

Thanks
BenC

Do you have retention for deleted items configured to save? I have mine configured for 10 days and it adds to the size of you information store. Also, the size may not go down until you do a defrag.

If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.

ive heard about this utility a few times but never actually used it do i just run it from the 'run' box or a dos windows or another method?

Thanks
